“The Hidrellez” is one of the seasonal festivals in Anatolia which is celebrated on the 5^th of each May to celebrate the awakening of nature. For the last couple of years “The Hıdrellez Festival” event that was first started by Armada in 1997 turned to a collective civil community activity. The number of the participants significantly increased and reached 50.000 in 2007, 70.000 in 2008, and over 100.000 in 2009. In 2010, the activity will be credited and supported by "Istanbul 2010, European Capital of Culture" project. The venue was carried to the Ahırkapı Park near Marmara Sea where visitors became able to have a larger space in 2009.
